The hair packaging industry is replete with paper and plastic packaging. While these two dependable packaging types have served us well for a long time, it’s time to spice things with up some packaging innovation. We at hairpackaging.com are always looking for fresh and effective ways to package and present our clients’ products, and we are proud to be the first to offer beautiful and functional fabric bags as a hair packaging option.
Fabric bags are a great way to enter the hair industry. They are sold in quantities of 100 bags. The bags are sheer and work great with hair. They are easy for online businesses to ship out in standard packaging from the postal service, UPS or Fedex. They look great in salons and add that special touch to personal deliveries too.

Types of Custom Hair Packaging
There are several types of packaging for hair extensions. For high quality human hair we recommend a box as first impressions make a big difference and the perception of quality is enhanced with an elegant box. Box styles vary greatly and should be selected based on how you plan on selling your hair and your budget.
Some boxes are designed for online stores and make shipping cost effective and easy. Other clients who plan on selling in salons or other retail establishments may opt for thin and long boxes with hang tabs.
Boxes can be made from a variety of materials including paper and plastic. We’ve even done plastic windows on paper boxes so customers can see the hair color and texture through the window, but are not able to touch the hair.
Another type of packaging is a plastic enclosure as shown in the image below.
There are three main components to this type of packaging.
The header with grommet (Pink area at the top of this image with the hole in it for hanging). Usually printed on both sides and sealed inside the plastic enclosure.
The actual insert which is available in a variety of colors and shapes. It is usually printed front and back and has a fold over flap to hide where the hair is attached.
The third part of the packaging that is required is the actual plastic enclosure. TIP: Some people opt to use a Ziplock type plastic bag when they are starting out.
There are optional components too. One that is common is a hang tag which can hold product information and attaches to the hair.
Another type of packaging more suitable for wigs is a larger version of the header enclosed in plastic. For more upscale wig packaging, we recommend the use of a box.
Price of Custom Hair Packaging
There are two components to the price of packaging - a design and setup fee plus the actual printing cost.
Design of Hair Packaging
Our DESIGN pricing depends on the following:
- Do you have a logo? If you do not we can design one for you. We fill out a questionnaire with you to see what type of logo you would like, give you some homework and also interview you before we even start designing. We've done hundreds of logos in the years we've been in business and we've put a select few on our logo portfolio which you can review. If you do already have a logo, but are not happy with it, we would be glad to offer a logo makeover.
- What types of items will you be packaging - wigs, hair extensions, wet products, closures or something else? Are your products high end, premium quality or synthetic/generic products?
- Who is your target market? Age, sex, geographical location and other demographics allow us to design something that appeals to you and the audience you are trying to market your products to.
- How soon would you like the design? Average design time is 5-7 days.
Printing of Hair Packaging
Price of PRINTING depends on a variety of factors.

What quantity of printed items would you like? The quantity makes a big difference in the cost per piece. TIP: Try and use one measurement of packaging for multiple products so that you can print a larger quantity of the packages. You can always leave space to be filled in for variations like style, color, texture, length, etc...

Where you will be producing the packaging? Our printing facility is located near Atlanta, Georgia, USA. We have a sister company in China that can print quality products very cost effectively. The China production facility abides by a strict ethical and moral code of conduct. It does not employ child labor and its environmental policies are sound. They have been in business for well over a decade and are a very established company. As a result of the high quality products produced by the American and Chinese facilities, the quotes we provide are usually more expensive than some of the competitors. Once the design phase is completed, you are given the source files and are able to solicit bids from other printing companies before you reach a decision. We also have contacts around the world that can print your packaging and would be happy to refer you to them once you have your design completed. It is hard to give estimates on printing we know what we are printing and it usually helps to give a more accurate quote if we have the final design of your artwork.

How soon do you need the packaging? Our American printing facility can usually complete your printing tasks within 1 week plus shipping time. If you have 30 days or longer, our China facility may be your best printing solution as they are quite competitive when compared to American printing pricing.
